My name is Alex MacKenzie, I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and a Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist. I work primarily with men who feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck — whether that’s in their relationships, their work, or within themselves. Many of the clients I see are high-functioning on the outside but carrying stress, trauma, or emotional weight that rarely gets spoken about.
Before becoming a psychotherapist, I worked in law enforcement. That experience shaped how I understand operational stress, identity shifts, and the pressure many men carry to “hold it together.” It also reinforced something important: strength and vulnerability are not opposites — they’re connected.
I work from an integrative, trauma-informed approach. Drawing from Internal Family Systems (IFS), cognitive behavioural therapy, and nervous system regulation work, I tailor sessions to the individual rather than forcing a one-size-fits-all model. Therapy is collaborative, structured, and grounded — not overly clinical, but purposeful and steady.
Clients often describe our work as direct, calm, and focused. I won’t overwhelm you with jargon, and I won’t push you faster than you’re ready for. We move at a pace that builds capacity, not pressure.
You don’t need to have everything figured out before starting therapy. You just need a space where you can show up honestly. If that feels like the right next step, I’d be glad to connect.
